To examine the failure mode of nuclear equipments under earthquake loadings, we carried out elasto-plastic dynamic response analysis for the simp le vibration system that has the concentrated mass on the tip of the cantilever. As a result, the maximum response stress of the cantilever is le ss than tensile strength even if the input acceleration reaches more than 10 times of the acceleration to reach a yield stress.
